Farrell House Lodge

Lovely, understated lodge on a beautiful property. Early season, March stay. My room was terrific, comfortable and spotless. I enjoyed the Continental breakfast with excellent coffee. The lodge has been nicely updated while keeping its charm.

My wife and I stayed at Farrell House and WOW we were blown away. This place had it all. It's balance of class and charm combined with the absolutely gorgeous property is unlike anywhere else we've been. This is not just a place to stay, it's an experience! From the moment we arrived it never had a "hotel" feel, instead we felt like family and it made the entire stay so relaxing and enjoyable. Our room was awesome, super clean and had everything we could need. The look of old money and class yet the feel of a relatives house is perfect. We took a morning walk, saw a bald eagle and trout rise in a stream as the sun rose over the trees. Pictures just don't do it justice. We will definitely be back and highly recommend. Thanks again!

The house itself is immaculate — clean, thoughtfully decorated, and radiating a quaint, southern warmth that immediately makes you feel welcome - our daughter loved the antique piano! Whether you’re traveling as a couple or bringing the whole family, the rooms are perfect. Cozy, spacious, and peaceful, they make for a wonderful stay whether it’s just a night or a few days. And then there’s the breakfast — wow. It’s out of this world. Every bite feels like it came straight from home, made with love and care. The sisters who own and run the lodge are the heart and soul of the experience. Their strong vision, incredible hospitality, and warm personalities shine through in every detail. They make the Farrell House feel more like staying with family than anything else — it’s truly a home away from home. The property itself is breathtaking. The surrounding streams and water features are serene and picturesque. Walking the grounds and watching the trout fishers is both relaxing and unexpectedly captivating. It’s easy to lose track of time just taking it all in. Most importantly, the lodge feels completely safe, clean, and welcoming. This is more of a very small hotel than a traditional bed and breakfast. It is spotless! The food is delicious and very fresh, although served buffet style. It is family owned and operated by very sweet people. The rooms no longer have their 1940's charm but are very nice. The inn sits on a fabulously beautiful piece of land. Our only complaint was the misbehaved kid(s) running in the hallway well after bedtime.

We found an absolute hidden gem in Sandusky! Prime location, not far from downtown Sandusky and a short drive to the other islands yet the property is a hidden oasis away from the crowds. We were charmed by the peaceful river that stretches through the expansive property. Incredibly beautiful scenery with weeping willow trees and other landscaping makes it feel like a southern plantation. The lodge was so charming as well, the rooms were tastefully decorated and sparkling clean. The homemade breakfast was fresh & incredible and the host Jewel is incredibly friendly and helpful. Couldn’t find a single negative thing to say and if I could give them 10 stars I would - we will definitely be back to visit!

Farrell House Lodge is a beautiful, well-appointed and relaxing B&B. My husband and I were looking for a place between Pittsburgh and Chicago to meet up with friends to enjoy trout fishing and nature. We lucked into finding this treasure that has it all - a gorgeous meandering stream filled with wary and feisty trout, winding through trees and forest filled with bald eagles, owls, herons, and quiet. The Lodge has been updated tastefully to retain its old world charm. Our bedroom was tidy and well-appointed. Our host Jewel Hackenberger was kind and attentive, delivering the caring interest in her guests that Doug Lamb did for years before. We will be coming back to this amazing place!

We made the best decision to book the Farrell House for our daughter’s wedding at Millsite. It is a charming Inn with beautiful accommodations in a quiet setting of willow trees and trout fisherman. The family brunch was exceptional and having our everyone stay for the entire wedding weekend made it such a special time I cannot say enough about the kindness of the owners and their eye for detail and presentation. I, as Mother of the bride, had to think of nothing. They were 2 steps ahead of me all weekend. It was perfect!

Words can’t describe how beautiful and unique of a property this is. It’s a massive sprawling property covered in weeping willows and streams, great for fishing or taking walks. If you’re looking for a quiet place to stay set among nature but close to all the action of cedar point and put in bay…..look no further. It’s immaculate, comfortable, the breakfast is delicious and the ladies that run it are super friendly and accommodating. Look forward to coming back
